SHIPPER / RECEIVER

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Shipper / Receiver reporting to the Production Manager, is responsible for local and inter-branch movement of product and supplies. Maintains accessibility of items needed for production; schedules and prepares all outgoing shipments, and completes all required documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Schedule, prepare and load all outgoing shipments in conformance with customer specifications
  • Unload and receive all incoming shipments ensuring delivery to addressee
  • Complete all required paperwork and documentation for incoming and outgoing shipments ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Schedule and prepare items for courier shipment as required
  • Maintain accessibility and organization of product and suppliers within the plant
  • Maintain organization of all waste materials and arrange for appropriate disposal
  • Complete and provide monthly inventory count
  • Complete and document daily inspections on powered equipment (forklift, electric pallet jack)
  • Assist with developing and revising operational and safety policies and procedures, hazard identification and assessment
  • Communicate any product, shipments or equipment related issues to the Department Manager
  • Maintain tidiness of work areas and equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Grade 12 or GED equivalent
  • Forklift Certification
  • Excellent attention to detail, and good personal planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to solve problems by tracing back to originating source and developing corrective / preventive actions in order to prevent recurrence
  • Ability to prioritize tasks by importance and available resources and complete them in a timely fashion without reminders or prompts
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Demonstrated abilities to be self-motivated, work independently or as a member of a team
  • Be physically capable of lifting up to 50lbs
  • Flexible to work overtime on short notice and weekends when required
  • Basic computer skills

FINISHING WORKER

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are currently recruiting for the positions of Finishing Worker within the Barrhead Finishing Department. Reporting to the Supervisor, Finishing, the incumbents are responsible for product handling on various production lines and monitoring product throughout all processes for conformance to high quality standards, integrity, and customer specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work on various positions within finishing lines: feeding, gathering, banding, boxing, cartoning, and / or banking as required while constantly monitoring product quality
  • Adhere to all established policies and procedures with respect to Health & Safety, Security and Operations
  • Ensure necessary supplies (boxes, cartons, etc.) are prepared and ready for use when needed
  • Ensure work area is clean and organized throughout the shift
  • Communicate any product or equipment related problems to the Manufacturing Operator, Lead Hand, or Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Grade 12 or GED equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude and previous experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting would be an asset
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and assignments, problem solving
  • Demonstrated abilities to be self-motivated, work independently or as a member of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with both co-workers and supervisor
  • Must be open to new ideas and concepts with an overall positive attitude
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be punctual and willing to work shift work and overtime on short notice
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 35 lbs. (process line)
